Biography

Langley Spurlock’s art covers an extraordinary range: Paintings, etchings, monotypes, digital prints, photography, collage, assemblage, sculpture. His media include acrylic, oil, ink, pastel, paper, wood, glass, plexi, metal and encaustic. And few artists have done more with tin cans, ginger graters, pens, rulers, skateboards, handbags, even Thor’s hammer and the Nibelung’s ring.

His work is the sum of many journeys. A former university professor, federal administrator and association executive with a doctorate in organic chemistry, he has exhibited at the Corcoran College of Art, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach and the Provincetown Museum in Massachusetts.

A West Virginia native, he now divides his time between Washington DC and Miami Beach.

He is currently represented in Washington, DC by Studio Gallery at 2108 R Street, NW. Tel: 202-232-8734.
