Secrets of the Elements 5: At Infinity's Edge

October 2 - 26, 2019

A Collaboration with John Martin Tarrat

Even in a universe of infinite possibilities nothing lasts forever (or does it?). Secrets of the Elements was complete in 2019 — the 150th anniversary of Mendeleev's Periodic Table.

This show of 25 elements featured Radium, Sodium, Krypton, Titanium — plus on the far end of the table, Nihonium, Moscovium, Tennessine.

Fifteen years. The fifth of five parts. All 118 elements in the known table.

Beyond?  Here be dragons

Dissembled Dissertations

June 1 - 16, 2018

A Collaboration with Freda-Lee McCann

A mathematician and a chemist walk into a gallery...

They decide to make art by sharing pages from their doctoral dissertations.

Freda Lee-McCann is a theoretical mathematician.  Her language is equations.

Langley Spurlock is an organic chemist. His language is molecular structures.

They are artists but neither understands the symbols of the other's language. The scripts in their dissertations are mutually incomprehensible.

The works in this show celebrate the adventures of communication and collaboration between two artists with different educational backgrounds and different approaches to artistic expression.
